BMI 2024:Symposium on Navigating the First 1000 Days of Life

Introduction

The first 1000 days of a child’s life is special. For most children, it is a period to explore the world with all of the senses for the first time. It is a period to form social bonds and to experience language and communication interactively with others. The first 1000 days is also a period of heighted neuroplastcity. As such, the child’s experience in the first 1000 days has a great deal of influence on the rest of childhood and beyond. From brain science to behavioral pediatrics, our speakers will discuss issues related to the child’s 1000 days that are relevant for researchers, clinicians, and parents alike.
